History at Post 883

When exploring the Legion, both inside and outside, you'll find the Post is a living monument and tribute to not only the Armed Forces, but to our local heroes that served our great nation.

While we highlight just some of the history on this site, you are always welcome to come explore all that is at the Post. From wall displays and the display cases around the facility, plus the items standing outside, we strive to keep the history alive as we remember our service members and veterans.

Donations of items can also be made to the Post to display. Any item(s) donated will remain on site and can be picked up by the person donating at any time.

As you enter the parking area, one of the first things you see is the missile at the top of the driveway. The Nike Hercules, initially designated SAM-A-25 and later MIM-14, was a surface-to-air missile (SAM) used by U.S. and NATO armed forces for medium- and high-altitude long-range air defense
